A generous home can still have a tight entrance, a delicate staircase or a turn that limits furniture access. Look at the entire route and share photographs of any difficult section. Include driveway entry, overhead clearance and other scheduled vehicles in the discussion.

If a designer, property manager or household contact is involved, choose one person to coordinate final decisions. Share a room plan, identify pieces that are staying and label items going to another destination. Confirm when the home will be ready to receive furniture.

Plan the move in sensible stages
When renovation and delivery dates overlap, discuss whether the move needs separate stages or temporary storage. Ask about availability, access to stored goods and how each stage would be estimated. Keep personal papers, jewelry and daily essentials with you.
How should I prepare an inventory for a large home?
List belongings by room, then add garages, closets, outdoor areas and storage spaces. Flag large, fragile or unusually valuable items so they can be reviewed individually.
Can I discuss a move that happens in stages?
Yes. Explain which belongings need to move when, the addresses involved and any uncertain dates. Our office can review available options and how the stages would be planned.
Should my designer provide a furniture plan?
A clear room plan can be helpful. Agree on placement before delivery and designate someone who can answer questions if the actual space differs from the drawing.
