A CLOSER LOOK AT YOUR MOVE

Sort first and pack by room

Choose a manageable space and finish it before opening boxes across the whole home. Separate belongings that will be donated, sold, discarded or taken in your own vehicle. Start with items you use least often and leave everyday necessities until later.

Keep related items together so unpacking does not become a search through every carton. Numbering boxes can help if you maintain a simple list of contents. Decide on room names that will make sense in the new home, such as front bedroom or office, and use the same names consistently on boxes and your furniture plan.

Match the carton to its contents

Use clean, sturdy boxes in sound condition. Put dense items such as books in smaller cartons so the weight remains manageable. Choose larger cartons for light belongings, and fill empty space with suitable cushioning so contents do not shift freely.

Tape the base securely and close the top flat without forcing it. Do not hide a heavy item inside a large box of light materials. Label the top and a side with the destination room and contents.

Give fragile belongings individual attention

Wrap fragile pieces separately with appropriate clean packing material. Cushion the bottom, sides and spaces between items, and avoid letting glass or ceramic surfaces touch. Lampshades, mirrors, framed artwork and glass furniture parts may need different packaging from everyday kitchenware.

Original packaging can be useful for electronics when it still fits properly and is in good condition. Photograph cable connections before disconnecting them, and keep labeled accessories together. Tell the office about unusual dimensions, delicate finishes or items of special value so packing needs and any service limitations can be discussed in advance.

Finish with an essentials bag and a final check

Pack a bag you will carry yourself with keys, personal documents, valuables, chargers, toiletries and a change of clothes. Add the simple household items you want to find immediately, such as towels, bedding and a few kitchen basics. Keep this bag apart from the shipment.

Ask the office which items cannot be accepted and how any special belongings should be prepared. Do not conceal liquids, fuels, chemicals or pressurized containers in general cartons. Before the move, check that every box closes properly, labels are readable and entrances are clear.

A LITTLE CLARITY

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Ask our Naples team
Can I pack most things and ask for help with fragile items?

Discuss a partial packing request with the office. Identify the items and rooms involved so the team can review materials, time and availability before moving day.

Is writing fragile on a box enough?

A label helps communicate, but it does not replace suitable packaging. Use appropriate cushioning and a sound carton, and ask about items that need special preparation.

Should I leave small items loose inside furniture?

Ask the office how it wants each piece prepared. Loose contents add weight and can move unexpectedly. Remove valuables and fragile belongings, and discuss drawers and removable shelves before packing day.
